WHO WE ARE

DANIEL GOMES is the President of Ulu Mau Development.  Dan is a lifelong resident of  the Waianae Coast.  He graduated from Waianae High School and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  

Dan began his career with Pitney Bowes as a Technician and over his 37 year career held various management positions, retiring in 2005 with extensive experience in project management, strategic planning, organizational development, personnel management,  computer technology, and marketing.

Dan is on the Boards  of the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, the Waianae Boys and Girls Club, and is a council member of the Waianae Elementary and Waianae High School Community Councils. Dan sees the potential for our communities to provide cultural education, multi-cultural entertainment, and effective business management programs based on cultural values and principles, and works to develop community assets and expertise into marketable products that can contribute to the improvement and sustainability of our Waianae Coast Communities.        


JOSEPH LAPILIO is the Chief Operating Officer.  Joseph holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Hawaii and a Bachelors degree in Community Planning and Development from Antioch University.  Joe’s community planning and development work spans thirty years in Hawaii and on the continental United States.

Joseph is the principal of Na Kii Ku, a community development consulting firm specializing in strategic and business planning, fund development, nonprofit board development, and community relations. His clients include the Honolulu Area Rapid Transit, the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center and the Department of Health, among others.  His clients have included the Kamehameha Schools, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Pacific Resources Partnership, Hawaii Maoli and the National Council for Urban Indian Health, among others.

Joseph is a lifelong resident of the Waianae Coast and active in many community groups including the Waianae Coast Rotary Club, the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, the Waianae Economic Development Council and the Lualualei Hawaiian Civic Club.
